ABOUT Saffron

Saffron is the dry stigma of Crocus Sativus flower. Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world, more than 90 percent of saffron are produced in Iran, therefore, it is known as the spice of Iran. It has been used in different industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, bakery, and pastry.

Saffron is the most effective anti-cancer spice due to its high level of antioxidants, the compounds of saffron have anti-depression properties, protects the brain from over aging and Alzheimer, improves sexual activity, improve vision, enhance immunity, treatment of skin, etc.

Saffron is being used a lot in pastry and bakery and cooking in the last recent years because of its unique aroma and flavor it has. There are huge varieties of saffron applications in the food industry such as food, cookie, desserts, sweets, jams and etc.

Saffron has different qualities and different types:

Negin – Pushal – Daste

Pushal

Is a little longer than Negin type and has some red to yellow color which makes the look and coloring unique.

Negin

The top of stigma with the highest quality and strong coloring, its completely red with minimum crushed powder.

Daste

It is the traditional packing of saffron. It’s bounding of saffron thread without any cuts, It’s commonly used as a gift in Persian culture.
